Krishnacharitramanjari

KrishnaCharitraManjari is a beautiful grantha by  Rayaru which has an essence of entire Krishna Charitre from Bhagavatha and Mahabharatha in 28 shlokaas. Rayaru has filled each line with shastra prameya (like Vishnu Sarvottamatva, devata taratamya, etc.)

Vishnu, appealed to by Brahma and other deities to lessen the load of the earth was born to Devaki. He made Nanda happy. He killed Putana, sent to finish kids. During the festive occasion of the first visit to the temple he kicked and killed the demon(shaTakAsura) hidden in the wheels of the cart. While he was  resting in Devaki’s lap, she felt he was a bit heavy and placed him on the ground. A demon(triNAvartha) in the form of a cyclone carried him away, but Krishna slew him. May he protect us.

MahaBharataTatparyaNirnaya BhavaSangraha

Sri Madhvacharya’s attempt to summarise the entire Mahabharata is itself a work of uncommon skill and comprehension. Rayaru has further condensed it and has captured all essential aspects of each chapter of the Mahabharata-Tatparya-Nirnaya in single verse. This Bhavasangraha has the summary of entire MBTN in 32 shlokas.

May this Lord of ramA Devi protect us, who

-existed in the beginning (before everything),
-has the entire universe in his womb,
-is the repository of infinite bliss,
-sports with His limitless forms like vAsudeva and
-plays with gods like Brahma and others whose inherent natures follow a hierarchy and have an eternal gradation,
-has countless auspicious qualities,
-is known through vedas,
-is totally flawless
-yet deludes vile and wicked people through his human like actions
-grants mokSha to His devotees, and
-gives sorrow to those who hate Him

Purushasukta Vyakhyanam

The Purusha Sukta is the essence of the Vedas. Hence a commentary on this Sukta is in effect a commentary on the entire Vedas themselves. And a correct understanding of the Purusha Sukta is actually the first step in the correct understanding of the Vedas. Hence it is a divine gift of Rayaru bestowed on the devotees to help them in their journey of understanding the entire ocean of Vedas.

Sri Raghavendra Swamiji begins his Vyakhyana with a mangala shloka in which he prays to Sri Narayana, his Guru Sri Purnabodha (Madhwacharya) and says that he will attempt a commentary on the excellent Sukta of the Purusha, according to the best of his ability.

Hiranygarbhasukta Vyakhyanam

24th Aug 2020

This sukta appears in the 10th Mandala and is the 121st sukta. This sukta is frequently mentioned by Srimadacharya in his Tantrasara grantha. Chaturmukha Brahma is known as Hiranyagarbha. This sukta talks about Vishnu, the in-dweller of Brahma. There are 10 riks in Hiranyagarbhasukta. Sage Brighu is it’s drashtaara.

The speciality of this vyakhyana is that Rayaru goes on to prove that though on the surface, Brahma devaru is referenced to in the shlokas, it is actually his in-dweller – Vishnu that is being spoken.

Rayaru starts the vyakhyana by stating that he is going to explain the meaning of the HiranyagarbhaSukta which is mentioned in TantraSara, in an easier language of what is said in the original, for the benefit of his shishyas, inline with their comprehending capabilities.

Sri TantraSaaraMantrodhara

25th Aug 2020

Tantrasaara is a grantha written by Sri Madhvacharyaru explaining the different Mantras to invoke different forms of the Lord.  Rayaru goes about explaining these mantras in his Mantrodhara book.
